Dr. Marvin Stone, Regents Professor Emeritus of Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering at Oklahoma State University, received a Ph.D. in Engineering Science from Washington State University in 1982 and since then has taught and conducted research at Oklahoma State University. He also serves as president of Microfirm Inc., a company specializing in development of embedded software and hardware for agricultural and industrial equipment. His specialization is the development and design of sensors and control systems for agricultural systems. He has served for more than 10 years on the ISO working group that has developed the communications protocol standards for electronics on agricultural equipment and chaired one of the task forces that developed SAE J1939. During the past 12 years he has been a member of a team of researchers at Oklahoma State University that developed GreenSeeker™, an optical, sensor-based, variable-rate fertilizer and chemical applicator system. Dr. Stone holds 9 patents, is the author or coauthor of 45 refereed journal articles, and is a co-author of a textbook on off-road vehicle design.
